jerk face.

I know I've bitched about him before, but that was a couple of months ago when things were first happening.

We have a player at the casino who got in trouble by the management for harassing us near the end of the night about getting more entries into drawings that he didn't deserve and whatnot. Honestly, I had figured the whole thing had blown over. He and his wife weren't coming in nearly as often as they had in the past, and when they did, they took their stuff and left.

Tonight, however, it all changed. I was behind the counter, getting a dinner voucher for a player. As this player and I were talking, the guy, we'll call him Bob, comes up to the desk, waiting for me and the other player to get done talking. Bob notices the other player is smoking at the counter (which you're not supposed to do, but with this guy I don't really care 'cause he makes sure to keep the smoke out of the way) because smoking will make you fat. Then I jokingly say that cigarettes keep you skinny. Then Bob says to the other guy, "You smoke, she smokes, you two would be good together." I butted in to say that I have never smoked a day in my life, thankyouverymuch. Then Bob says to the other guy, "Oh really? Because whenever she talks, it sounds like smoke is coming out of her mouth."

Now, I'm not really sure what that's supposed to mean. Was it an insult? Am I blowing smoke up his ass all the time when I talk to him? Am I a horrible dragon blowing fire at him? Am I just sarcastic all the time to him? Who knows. I try to be amiable.

Then the other guy leaves, and Bob approaches the desk. I start printing off his entries and he asks me, "So, you want to be a teacher?" And I tell him that yeah, maybe, but I'm not sure if my heart is really in it, blah blah. Then he says, "What if your superintendent approached you to say that a lot of people said that you complain too much?"

As soon as he said this, I knew exactly what he was getting at. So I started to say that I would find out what they say I was complaining about (because sometimes you get on a tangent about something and don't realize it's annoying everyone else), and then Bob cut me off. I wanted to finish telling him that I would have looked at myself to see if it was true that I was complaining about something a lot, and if it were true, I would stop doing it. Because that's why Bob got in trouble - he did too much complaining to me and another coworker, and we'd had enough, so we told our supervisor. He needs to stop and take a good look at himself as a person. Reevaluate. Change. That's what I wanted to tell him. But he cut me off and asked, "Are you intimidated by me?" I told him, "No, should I be?" Because I'm not intimidated by him. I don't like him, he makes my life miserable, but in no way am I intimidated by him. If he thinks he can get me fired and have my job, then so be it. Keep thinking that, and keep working at it, because I can find better work at any other casino in town that he's already been kicked out of for complaining about crap, and then I won't have to deal with him.

Then he went on to tell me that he was still hurt by what had happened three months ago, and that he still thinks about it a lot. It was three months ago. Get over it. Move on. If it hurts that much, then maybe he shouldn't come back to the casino.

I know that I'm probably wasting time by even talking about this because there's nothing that's going to change about him. I wish there was something I could do or say to him to make him understand that he is not being an acceptable person, let alone an acceptable GROWN UP. I don't understand why he is like this, and I want to. I want to know what happened in his childhood that made him act like this as a 70 year old man. Why is it okay for him to treat me like this, but not okay for me to turn him in for treating me like this? It's not. Obviously I'm not going to sit down with Bob and have a heart to heart with him about this, and even if we DID talk about it, I wouldn't get the truth. I'd get some manipulative sob story. I'm tired of it. I told my supervisor Bob needs to get his act together or leave, because this job is not worth being harassed like that.

holy buckets!

It has been raining like crazy here the last couple of days in Spearfish, and boy do we need it! But we don't need the flooding that might soon come with it if this weather keeps up. Spearfish Creek is 6 cubic feet higher than what it usually is; once it reaches 8cf, we will be in a warning zone, and once it reaches 10cf, that will be considered a flood. Crazy!

The water rushing through the creek is brown like mud, and rushing like crazy through the banks. I even saw a guy trying to fish it today on my way to work! I doubt the poor fish in there are looking for something to eat, they're probably just trying to not get too beat up with all the logs and branches floating downstream.

On a different note, I picked up a chair at work with my left arm, and re-injured my shoulder that I'd had some physical therapy work done on in the previous months, so I'm going to have to get the ol' foam roll out and try to work the kinks out again. One of the girls at work who rubbed my back tonight felt a huge knot right there. so that's going to be fun to work out.

I got new tires on my car today. Well, Aaron got them put on my car today while I was still in bed because he gets up MUCH earlier than I do, even though I'm usually up by 10am anyway. Oh well. Anywho, it's off to bed I go because my mom and dad are going to be in town around 11am and I need to get some sleep.

random

I have some pictures up of the new furniture, sans chair, as that still isn't in yet. You can check it out at my Dropshots site. Some of the pictures aren't very bright because we don't have good lighting in the living room (no overhead light), and they're mostly just for scale.

Work has been crazy and stressful, and it's only going to become more intense as the summer rolls in; new people signing up for cards every day, weekends are just insanely busy! On Sunday night, I didn't sit down for more than 20 minutes during my entire 9 hour shift. Urg.

The weather is warming up and making life a little easier; getting to open the windows and let in a little fresh air is always nice.

We're (Aaron and I) planning on going to Minneapolis near the end of June so I can meet some of Aaron's friends from when he went to school down there, but before we can go I'll need to get new tires for my car.

Since all of my shows had their season finales last week, I'll have nothing to catch up on in the afternoons while Aaron is at work, so it's craft time again. I have a blanket idea that I've started working on, and we'll see how that goes. I think it should work up pretty quickly, and go well with our furniture.

I don't have much else to say, just a quick update since last week. Until next time...

new living room

Last week I was told by my mom, who was told by my sister that she was going to be taking her double-recliner couch back within the next month. I hadn't expected her to need it so soon, since school doesn't start 'til the end of August. But the lease on her new apartment starts the first of June, and she and Dad want to start moving stuff in over the course of the summer (each time he goes on a fishing trip, in other words). So by them taking our main seating in the living room, we need to buy new stuff. And quick.

So on Tuesday Aaron and I headed to Rapid City because they have quite a few furniture stores. We went to the first one we found, hopped in, and were a little overwhelmed at ALL THE FURNITURE. I've never been furniture shopping in my life where I was the one making decisions. We wandered around for a bit, and a sales person asked us if he could help us with anything. We told him what we were looking for, and he pointed us in the direction we needed to go, and said he'd check on us in a few minutes.

A few minutes later he was back, like he said, and spent the next two hours with us, trying to find just the right thing that would fit into our perfectly square 16' x 16' living room. We found a love seat and chair with a matching ottoman, and a recliner that complimented the colors of the rest of the furniture. They're going to ship it to us on Tuesday, which means tomorrow (or any time before Tuesday, but tomorrow works best) we need to get the living room cleared of the current couches.

It was darn exciting. And not having to haul new furniture into our apartment is a plus! I'm glad we got the delivery option, and no interest for 3 years. I feel like I'm slowly growing up, but I sure don't feel like a grown up yet. I'll give it a few more years.

odd

(I accidentally posted this on my Photo Blog the other day instead of here. Whoops. This post is for May 6th.)

I was looking at my Stat Counter thingie to see who'd been visiting me over the last couple of days on my blog, and found someone from Bosler, Wyoming has been looking on here...I don't know anyone from Bosler, but it's funny, because there's a song by Jalan Crossland called "Bosler" and it's one of my favorites by him...

Coincidental.

Work was ridiculously busy tonight because it was Cinco de Mayo (sp?) and a lot of people were in town for the weekend, but I think also - anyone who was staying in our hotel was kinda stuck because it was pouring rain for HOURS all day. Not just a sprinkle, just a downpour for most of the day, and a lot of the previous night. Granted, we need the moisture, but we don't need so much at once that we get any flash flooding. Yikes.

here's a question

Why were exit ramps on Interstates invented?

Seems easy enough - so you can get off the Interstate and start slowing down before your stop, that way you don't disrupt the flow of traffic going 75mph behind you.

NOT so you could slow down to 40mph ON the Interstate before even getting on the exit ramp in your dual-exhaust brand new Cadillac, you idiot in a car who probably shouldn't be driving at night.

growing up?

Is it finally happening? Can it be true? Am I finally growing up?

Well, no one can be sure of that, but we can be sure of this; the car is now in my name, and I have started getting quotes for car insurance on it. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be; who knows why I put it off as long as I did.

And then there's the student loans. It only took me four and a half months to do my student loan exit counseling and to call my loan provider, get the loans consolidated, and pick a time for them to start coming in. Five and a half years of college, four and a half months before I get around to figuring out how much I owe. Yeesh. It's a good thing they give you six months after graduation to start paying!

Next? A house? Puppies? Not sure what's going on next...but I've made it this far...

Wreck Me Russian

For this drink, you will need raspberries, raspberry liqueur, and vodka.

In a glass, take raspberries and muddle them up (crush them). Then pour enough raspberry liqueur over them to cover the top, then fill your glass with vodka.

Pour in a mixer, shake, and strain into your glass, which is now filled with ice.

Enjoy!

Wednesday

This last Wednesday, the 18th, Aaron came to Deadwood after I got off work and we spent the evening downtown, gambling, losing money, and seeing random people at random places. I lost a bunch of money, but it was a lot of fun anyway. Then we went over to the Old Style #10 Saloon and met up with a friend of Aaron's who he used to work with when Aaron worked in the kitchen, Bryce, and his girlfriend, Liz, who I work with (sort of; she's at the hotel, and I'm at the player's club, but we share a counter and office), did some gambling, had some drinks, and hung out for quite a few hours.

It was a lot of fun. With the weird schedules that Aaron and I have, we rarely have a whole day off together, and when we do, we usually don't do much with it, let alone hang out with any couples. Previously, hanging out with Aaron's friends, I usually feel like a third wheel because I'm usually the only girl. But this time was a lot of fun, having another girl to talk to while the boys talked. We definitely need to do that again.

The weather is finally warming up, and instead of snow, we've been getting rainstorms! Spring is finally here, I think! Which means I made it through yet another winter without having to buy snow tires. Sweet. But now I need to get just regular ol' new tires before these ones wear out. Thank goodness for tax returns!

crazy/random

Ever notice that feet smell like peroxide sometimes? I always thought that was weird.

This morning, driving home from work, we had rain, thunder, and lightning! I've been waiting months and months for that stuff, and here it is, finally! I hope this means no more snow! Or, if we DO get snow, that it's cold enough to kill all the buggies that are now hatching and invading the apartment.

I found a new freckle on my hand the other day, which was weird, because I haven't really been outside that much, and it hasn't really been that sunny until just recently, so I'm wondering where it came from. I'm genetically predisposed to freckle in the sun thanks to my mother's fair complexion and hint of reddish hair in the family, but I'm just not sure where this one started from. Oh well.

It's time for sleep now, and another 9 hour day at work tomorrow night. Whoo!
